From the time I was a child, I have always had a love for black music.
Rap and Hip-Hop was becoming mainstream back in the late 80's and
once I heard this new style of music I was hooked by the messages in
the lyrics and the driving, funky beats. My love for the musical style
was my inspiration and motivation to create SuperFly Magazine. My
warm, personal interviewing style soon attracted dozens of up and
coming Hip-Hop, R & B as well as pop artists of that time, who told
their stories with a depth and candor that was unique to my magazine
along with rare photos that have became part of my archive.
So here I am, more than 20 years after I stopped publishing SuperFly,
telling you about my editorial adventure and the real passion and love I
had for my publication, and the music.
SuperFly - My Untold Story of Hip-Hop is dedicated to all the
rappers and artists that have been featured in my magazine and the
people supporting and working with me who made it possible.
